Telluride is worthy of even international recognition.
Telluride lies in a breathtaking scene in the middle of the steep 13,000 foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado. In our tests, the resort scored well in every single category, including the Freeriding/Experts category, where they had no trouble keeping up with their fellow American competition in Vail, Beaver Creek or Aspen. The fact that nowhere near as many skiers spend their vacation there (Europeans also tend to favor the other three) can be attributed to one thing; whereas the other resorts in Summit County can be reached from Denver within one to two hours over Interstate 70, vacationers either have to hop on yet another flight or drive seven hours to get to Telluride. In our opinion, however, Telluride is worth every minute of the longer trip. This young ski area with its history dating back to the 19th century and its awe-inspiring mountain backdrop has got what it takes to content the heart of any skiing target group.
