Plenty of black diamond runs to keep you entertained!

37% of Cypress Mountain’s ski area is composed of black diamond runs, and 2% of the area is double blacks, both relatively high percentages. These black diamonds are usually left ungroomed, which creates perfect conditions for free riders. The difficult runs are spread out throughout the entire ski area and are quite varied when it comes to their lengths. From short runs such as “Blow By”, Tomcat” and “Bowen West,” to runs like “Top Gun” that almost cover the entire extent of the elevational difference at Cypress Mountain, you’ve got it all. Some of the runs, including “Top Gun and “Moons,” are partially glade runs, and provide expert skiers with exciting piney challenges. The “Ski Area Boundary” that separates the mountains two ski areas is to be taken seriously and not crossed, since the avalanche risk there is extremely high. Our favorite black diamond runs were “Top Gun,” “Moons” and “Slash” in Mt. Strachan, and the runs next to the Raven Ridge Quad chairlift. Mogul fans can test their skills on the “Alexandre Bilodeau’s Gold” run.
