Jackson Hole: Wild west and wild freeride slopes!
Jackson Hole takes pride in its past and in its image as a real wild west resort, and as well it should be; deer, elk and even bison graze alongside the streets and many buildings and bars still boast their original wild west fronts. Even the ski area is wild. The black diamond freeride slopes at the bottom of Rendezvous Mountain with their many rock an tree-graced chutes are among the most difficult that we, the Skigebiete-Test team, have ever had the pleasure of skiing. It's no wonder this western-Wyoming ski resort has received awards from so many winter sports magazines for it's freeriding. We came to the same conclusion, that extreme skiers would be hard put to find a better ski area in North America. Beginners and families, however, will be better served at Grand Targhee, located about an hour's drive from Jackson Hole.
