The usual off-piste routes and at least one ski route

The Sillian Hochpustertal ski area, like so many other ski areas, officially offers freeriders almost exclusively the routes next to the slopes and under the lifts, where powder enthusiasts can make their lines in the untouched snow.

In Sillian, however, the slopes are relatively flat, which also speaks for a low avalanche risk and thus makes the danger off-piste manageable. Powder fans have a ski route at their disposal, but it leads down into the valley and does not always offer enough snow. Ski route number 7 runs from the base station of the Außervillgraten chairlift to the village of Außervillgraten. Here, however, a lift back is missing!

Thus, the ski area Sillian Hochpustertal is only conditionally recommended for freeriders. During our test visit, we could see very many tracks in the unprepared fresh snow. Those who get involved with these unofficial slopes will certainly have fun in Alta Pusteria.
