Recreational skiing at Hochpustertal – Sillian scores in many areas

Not only the weather was perfect during our review visit at Hochpustertal. Even before the sun came out over the valley, the service staff at Sillian Hochpustertal ski resort did an outstanding job in bringing us a perfect ski day with excellently groomed slopes.

Sillian Hochpustertal remains a hidden gem among smaller ski resorts. After a number of investments, the ski destination now boasts modernised lift facilities, a fine kids' and practice area as well as East Tyrol's southernmost terrain park.

Families as well as beginners will find joy and comfort here. The ski resort is easy to navigate, and its variety of runs has a lot in store for intermediates and those wanting to get there. Recreational skiers will enjoy numerous broad slopes, experts find four black-marked runs. Signposting here is exemplary, so that even inexperienced skiers will easily find their bearings.

Unfortunately, après-ski and backcountry fans will be a bit disappointed. A large umbrella bar is available for après-ski at Thurntaler II gondola's top station, but that's it. There is some room for backcountry skiing under the lifts and beside the slopes. However, none of these areas are officially signposted.

Lovers of terrain parks, on the other hand, can look forward to a trip to Sillian. The Fun Park features annually changing obstacles for all skill levels as well as its own park lift, a chillout area, and grooming by YellowSNOWCREW's expert staff.

In conclusion, Sillian Hochpustertal may still be called a hidden gem for beginners, families, and recreational skiers. YellowSNOWPARK makes it a great insider tip for freestyle fans as well. Après-ski lovers and backcountry enthusiasts, however, should rather look elsewhere.

Insider Tip for families

The ski resort Sillian Alta Pusteria is still considered a real insider tip. Crowded slopes and long waiting times at the lifts are therefore rare here. Due to the variety of red and blue descents,...
