Six mountain restaurants but no night life in the Whakapapa valley
Six mountain restaurants but no night life in the Whakapapa valley!Like in all ski resorts in New Zealand not Après Ski is of prime importance in Whakapapa but snow sports itself! Still skiers and boarder are excellently catered to in the culinary department and can savour international and local specialties. The highlight is without doubt the patio of the “Knoll Ridge Chalet” at the “Knowll Ridge T-bar” (M). At the highest café in New Zealand you can fill your gaze with views of the volcano peaks Mt Ngauruhoe (2287) and the Mt Tongarino (1967) in the north and Mt Egmont (2518) right by the westcoast. A truly unique experience that will leave a lasting impression! After lifts close there is but a pub and the “Chateau Whakapapa” where winter enthusiasts can let the evening wind down. Night owls are better off at Ohakune at the Turoa resort which is 40 km away. There numerous pubs, discos and restaurants cater to all those that are eager to party untill the early morning hours!
