The „Happy Valley“ practicing area but very challenging terrain in the upper parts of the ski resort
Whakapapa features mostly intermediate (marked blue) and difficult terrain. Solely the “Hutt Flat Beginners Area” and the “Happy Valley Beginners area” is easy terrain. However especially the “Happy Valley” practicing area which is made accessible by three lift facilities is particularly suitable for first time slides in the snow. Those who have already spent a day or two on ski or board can also venture into the “Showcase” (3), “Rockgarden” (4) and “Tennant`s Valley” (5) without problems. The trails are situated at the “Centennial” chairlift (see trail map). The Whakapapa base is definitely home to beginner friendly terrain. The slopes in the upper parts of the ski resort however should be left to skilled boarders and skiers only. The terrain there is simply too challenging.
