“Pitch“-black diamond terrain in the “Amphitheatre” and “The Pinnacles” subarea
Expert skiers will brim over with enthusiasm for Whakapapa. The ski resort at Mt. Ruapehu ist not only New Zealand’s largest ski resort but also one of the most challenging ski resorts! The black trails “Stebbings” (64) and “The Cirque” (66 – see trail map) aim at very skilled skiers that prefer ungroomed terrain. The free ride slopes range from difficult in the “Amphitheatre” (“Steve`s Bowl (57), “McKenzie`s Mistake” (53)) to extremely difficult in the “Pinnacles” subarea (“Front Stage” (45), “Back Stage” (46) and “Grand Gully” (47)). Those who want to top this all off can rise to a challenge at the “Black Magic Lift Accessed Backcountry Area” at the “Far West T-Bar”. Whakapapa is one of the best ski resorts for very skilled skiers. Due to a lacking slalom or giant slalom training track the ski resort receives 4,5 out of 5 stars.
