A nice ski resort for beginners

60% of the total 100 kilometers of skiable terrain are marked as blue slopes in the resort Obertauern. Most of these runs are popular among beginners, but also skiers who are working on a comeback have plenty of slopes to practice here. Snowboard newcomers should keep in mind, that many of the blue marked slopes have long, flat sections, for example No. 1a at the top station Zehnekar. In total there are six ski and snowboard schools, where newcomers can practice their skills on one or two boards. Near the valley there are a couple of practice lifts, such as the Pernerlift or the t-bar between the two lifts Plattenkarbahn and Schaidbergbahn. From the village you can access the resort easily and from practically anywhere.

Beginners should rather start in Obertauern at the parking lots P5, P6, P7. There are easier slopes, as well as a practice lift (No. 19). Those who have already stood on skis can also start at the front parking lots. There are also blue slopes, but in some places a little more demanding.

Really a great ski resort for those who are not so routinely skiing. The pistes are mostly light or medium-weight and you can leave almost the entire ski area. Only drawback: Snowboarders often hav... Read complete review

There are relatively few very wide blue pistes, but they are very crowded in the popular travel and daytime times. Which, of course, affects waiting times at the lift.

Around the lifts Sun lift 1 and 3 You can find some easy practice slopes, just as it is around the Schaidbergbahn. As a small highlight for families with children, the "Ghost Railway" on the Schaidberg, as well as the ski park at the Edelweiss Railway, should be called.
