Silver Star will never be your first choice when it comes to freeride skiing, as the mountain has trees going right to the top. However, when you get inches of dry champagne powder, there is no better place for some neat freeride or backcountry sessions than Silver Star. Tree skiing is just one of several things you should totally give a try when staying at Silver Star. At the backside of the mountain you sure will have fun times skiing trees. Putnam Creek offers a dense network of black and double diamond runs plunging through the trees. Silver Woods is your go-to for some gentle runs that cut through the trees. Just Dandy and Gypsy Queen are just two of numerous descents we'd recommend to newbies.
There are more powder runs to go explore on the Front Side. From the summit of Vance Creek and Attridge, black and double diamond slopes will get you down the hill. Those will make for fun hours and great days on the slopes despite the fact that they are relatively short in length.
