It is all about snow coverage at Silver Star. Since the resort is located at an altitude of 1,155 meters, which is quite high up for Canadian ski resorts, there is basically always natural snow under your skis. The height of the ski resort “pays off“ when it comes to the category “snow coverage“.
On average, the season lasts from late November to the beginning of April. It may well be that the terrain park is not fully covered with snow until mid-December, yet apart from that one will hardly recognize that Silver Star is not always a winter wonderland. During our visit at the beginning of December, almost all slopes were open and even the terrain park was fully completed already. Since there are no artificial snow facilities, the day when the ski resort opens for skiing is in Mother Nature's hands – which is why the ski resort – and its guests - sometimes bemoan her dawdling.
