Freeriding in the Zettersfeld ski area

Although East Tyrol is considered a ski touring stronghold, the freeriding opportunities in the two ski areas Hochstein and Zettersfeld are nevertheless limited. The Hochstein is forested all the way to the summit, so there are few opportunities for off-piste excursions here.

On the Zettersfeld, on the other hand, you can make the one or other run in deep snow. The terrain up here is treeless and when there is fresh snow there are many possibilities off the marked slopes. From Schoberköpfl at an altitude of 2,278 meters, there is also the Rottmann ski route, which takes you back to the top station of the Zettersfeld gondola after just under 450 meters of altitude. There are also beautiful powder slopes away from Steinermandl in the valley basin to the east, but these can only be skied with experts on site.
