Large masses of snow with Adriatic low

The climate in East Tyrol is very special. Compared to the Tyrolean ski resorts, which usually get a lot of snow with a northwesterly flow, the weather in East Tyrol always stays nice. Large precipitations are always to be expected when an Adriatic low presses against the Alps from the south. People like to remember the winter of 2013/2014, when it snowed again and again for weeks and the snow piled up several meters high. However, if the Adriatic lows stay away, it sometimes stays green in East Tyrol for longer.

The ski resorts, however, have a very consistent artificial snowmaking system, which also allows skiing in winters with less snow. Due to this changeable situation and the low altitude, we cannot give a top rating here.
