When it comes to stopping off, the two ski areas really do have a lot to offer, as Lienz is known for its terrace skiing. Each hut has its very own specialties and every day a different hut offers a culinary treat.
At Hochstein, the terrace of the Moosalm at the middle station invites you to eat dumplings. The Stern-Alm at the top station of the double chairlift offers a great view of the Lienz Dolomites and various soup variations. The most beautiful view on the Zettersfeld is certainly from the Steinermandlhütte. It is famous for its Schlipfkrapfen. A rustic terrace, where there is also après-ski with live music, awaits you at Mecki's Dolomiten Panoramastubn. We particularly liked the Naturfreundehütte and its Kaiserschmarrn terrace. Although it's a bit off the slopes, it's easy to get to via a side trail from the Faschingalm downhill run. The Kaiserschmarrn here is really a dream and absolutely worth the little detour! The prices in the ski huts are very family-friendly, an absolute plus in the ski region of Lienz in East Tyrol.
P.S. What we also found very practical: In most huts, the toilets are located on the first floor. So you do not have to climb stairs with ski boots.
