Lienz with its Hochstein and Zettersfeld ski resorts also does well in terms of service. The lifts may not be among the very latest models, yet the standard is really okay. Particular mention must be made of the Schlossberg gondola lift on Hochstein and the Faschingalm 6-seater chairlift on Zettersfeld. Only the ascent to Hochstein via the two long lifts Hochstein 2 (double chairlift) and Hochstein 3 (surface lift) is somewhat lengthy. The signage is absolutely satisfactory in both areas. But since the ski areas are very manageable anyway, there is no need for sophisticated orientation aids.
Great piste preparation
Thanks to a decent snow cover and sufficient artificial snow facilities, the slopes were perfectly prepared for our day of skiing - top marks for that. Even in the afternoon, the conditions were still absolutely fine despite warm temperatures.
The parking situation leaves nothing to be desired. There are free parking spaces both at Hochstein and Zettersfeld. At Zettersfeld there is also the possibility to park at the Faschingalmbahn. There is also a ski bus service between both ski areas.
Unfortunately, there is no ski rental at the base station at Hochstein. You can therefore get skis in town or at the Zettersfeld valley station. There is also a ski rental store and a ski depot at the top station of the gondola lift.
